Milk Producers Co-Operative Society

Through persistent efforts by the Managing Trustee, Ms. T. Amutha, spanning approximately four months, a milk producers’ cooperative society was officially registered with the Department of Dairy, Government of Tamil Nadu. The cooperative, known as PKD-120 S. Nangupatti Milk Producers Co-operative Society, commenced operations on December 22nd, 2022. BEES Trust facilitated the purchase of necessary equipment for the society, including milk cans. The cooperative is managed by eleven directors, with Mrs. T. Amutha elected as President and Mrs. P. Priyanka appointed as Secretary. Milk is procured from members and supplied to the Pudukkottai Milk Producers Co-operative Union. The members were supplied cattle feed which was supplied by the Pudukkottai District Milk Co-operative Union at concessional rate. Furthermore, a bank account was established at Indian Bank, Neerpalani, jointly operated by the President and Secretary. Members receive payment for their milk every ten days. Additionally, Pongal materials such as rice, sugar, and other essentials were distributed to members for the celebration of Pongal Day in January 2023.

BEES Trust successfully secured a loan from Indian Bank, Neerpalani, for the purchase of milch animals. Five members of the Milk Producers Co-operative Society received a loan of Rs. 50,000/- each for this purpose. Efforts are underway to facilitate bank loans for other members of the cooperative society. These initiatives reflect BEES Trust’s commitment to fostering education, empowering women, and supporting local communities in sustainable agricultural practices.
